Report: Cafe Rokumeikan at Akihabara
As I mentioned Cafe Rokumeikan(カフェ鹿鳴館)in a previous article, I went to Cafe Rokumeikan in this weekend. Here's my impression/short-report.
Please click below for detail.
<Location>
It's very close to famous Karaoke Pasela[JP-LINK]. If you can get to Karaoke Pasela, you'll easily find Cafe Rokumeikan nearby. (Please see these photos of the entrance.)
<Interior/Atmosphere>
There are two "five seater table". IMHO, the interior not so good. The cafe has exposed concrete walls. It's just like "a field cafe(or a makeshift cafe) in a bomb shelter". But the real Rokumeikan was a reception hall for foreign VIPs in Meiji Era. So the atmosphere is mismatched, I feel.
<Maid's manner/serving customers>
All the maid-sans/butlers can really speak English, having (typical) Japanese accents. But their ability of speaking English are all very good as Japanese.
Of course, they have English menus.
<Menu/foods>
When I visited there, they had only limited menus(ex. coffee, tea, and a bread). I ordered a cup of coffee. They served a weak coffee (a.k.a. American coffes in Japan), and it costs JPY500-.
<Overall>
Uumm..., it's just so so(^^;. But It's the first and ever cafe, having English speaking stuff. If you have a chance to visit Akiba, and like to talk to the stuff, it's worth trying.

Cafe Rokumeikan was closed down in Jan/2009. So it lasts only three months around. If you look for English available/speaking maid cafe, I caqn recommend @home. Here's why.
